About Me

Learn the important things about me.

I am

A believer

I believe in the God of the Bible, I believe that man was created for good, and I believe that a big part of our purpose is to steward the earth and take care of each other. Although we often fall short of this, I have a gut feeling that working with AIDEH will be a great opportunity to do some real good.

I am

A family man

I'm a happy husband and a grateful father. I've been married for just over four years and my first child (a bright, beautiful boy) is almost one year old. I'm excited about working on projects that will create a better world for my children and their generation.

I am

An entrepreneur

I founded my first company at age 23 back in 2013 and have been an entrepreneur ever since. I love building businesses and brands that balance purpose and profit well. Yes, you want to make money, but you also want to make a difference.

I am

A thinker

I love thinking deeply, I love thinking critically, I love thinking laterally, and I love thinking creatively. I look forward to applying my unique perspective to improving project design and execution with AIDEH.

I am

A problem solver

Few things thrill me like solving a problem, especially a really tough one, or one that's been a problem for a long time (even if it's not so tough).

I am

A leader

I am very comfortable with responsibility and taking charge when I need to. Over the years I have also learned what it takes to motivate and inspire others to do their best.

I am

A communicator

I love language and using words to communicate ideas, both big and small. I'm also fairly decent at communicating in Spanish, though my listening ability has gotten rusty over the years.

I am

A team player

My time playing team sports as a boy and at university has changed me for the better. There's nothing quite like that feeling when a team comes together to achieve a common goal. The synergy is almost magical!

Education

I studied Civil Engineering from 2008 to 2011 at the University of Sheffield Department of Civil and Structural Engineering, the number two ranked civil engineering department in the UK at the time. I graduated with First Class Honours and was able to move from the Bachelor of Engineering programme straight to a PhD. I was just 21 at the time. While I didn't end up completing my PhD programme—I founded my first company and decided to devote my time to that instead—the experience played a big role in shaping the man and professional I am today. Personally, the rigour of academic study at that level has made me a stronger person. Professionally, I learned how to read and write as a technical researcher, as well as how to present research and technical information effectively.

My Skills

Here are some of the things I'm really good at:

I can build pretty much any kind of website in no time.

I can translate text between English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese.

Since graduating I've mainly specialised in hydraulic engineering design, which includes drainage and flood infrastructure design.

I design logos and graphics for my own businesses as well as for clients.

I was trained in GIS while at university and have used it extensively during my postgraduate studies and professionally.

I'm very proficient with Microsoft (MS) Word as well as other software programmes in the MS Office suite.

I've delivered academic and professional presentations to all kinds of audiences all over the world.

I know how to tell a story with words. Copy writing is something I do professionally for my own businesses, as well as for clients.

I'm also quite good at writing to persuade.

For a long time technical proposal writing was how I made my living, so I became very proficient at it.
